Overcoming Shyness: How To Deal With Social Anxiety (Works Every Time!). 1. Body language – It all starts with the body; the body is the mind. Have a confident posture by standing up straight, with your arms out, legs straight, and a smile on your face. You will notice that you instantly feel better and more confident. After you get used to forming a good body language it becomes almost second nature to communicate confidently For example for me eye contact was a problem but after fixing it I literally felt like I was dominating the conversation.
2. Put yourself in situations where you are forced to socialize - Listen, I know how easy it can be to just rather stay at home and play videos and stay in your little bubble but if you really want to fix this issue you will have to actively take action every single day. This means trying to make small talk with the barista at starbucks, asking people how their day is going, or approaching the cutie from English class. Either way do something everyday to actively break out of your shell and give yourself mini challenges every to complete.
3. Be more talkative – This again refers back putting yourself out there, but wherever you find the opportunity to participate, or share a story. Confident people aren’t afraid that they will come off weird or scared of offending people. They instead communicate what they are truly feeling and they speak their mind. So tbh it doesn’t matter what you say as long as you believe in what you are saying and can be confident while saying it you’ll be fine. Again it’s not about the what its about the how.
4. Be present: The main reason shyness happens is because we are too caught up in our own heads on what to say or how to act. But instead if you are present to the moment you will naturally act and talk the way you are supposed to which is confidently. The best way to become more present is by practicing meditation now I know meditation can be kind of boring that’s why I created a video that will show you exactly how to do it. Also when you are feeling caught up in your head distract yourself instead by focusing your attention on something else in the room weather that’s an object or the music playing so that way you will come bac to the present moment instead of worrying.
